Women’s Golf Tied for Seventh Place at NCAA Chapel Hill Regional

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team is tied for seventh place heading into the final round of the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, being played at UNC's Finley Golf Club (par-70, 6,177 yards).
The three-day, 54-hole tournament concludes on Wednesday, May 13. The top five teams (30 teams total) and the low individual not on an advancing team (six individuals total) from each regional site will advance to compete in the national championships to be played May 22-27 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
The Spartans shot a 10-over par 290 on Tuesday and finished the second round at 16-over par 576 (286-290), seven shots outside the top-five teams.
Texas leads the 12-team field at 10-under par 550 (279-271), with North Carolina second at 6-under par 554 (274-280). Oklahoma State is in third place (5-over par 565), with NC State fourth (7-over par 567) and Mississippi State rounds out the top-five teams (9-over par 569). Virginia is in sixth place (14-over par 547) and the Spartans are tied for seventh with Kent State.
Senior Taylor Kehoe posted her second-straight round of even-par 70 and leads the Spartans, tying for 12th place at even-par 140 (70-70).
A pair of freshmen are also among the leaders for MSU, with Lucia Valderrama tied for 26th place at 4-over par 144 (70-74) and classmate Sarisa Pojanalai tied for 32nd place at 5-over par 145 (74-71).
Junior Ana Sofia Murcia is tied for 36th place at 7-over par 147 (72-75) and senior Paula Balanzategui, making her first appearance in the regional, played the second round, shooting an 8-over par 78.
