MSU looks to even out their match record prior to competing against their highly ranked in-state foe Michigan next weekend.
Series History Versus Washington
It has been some time since the Spartans last faced the Huskies, with their last match occurring over 15 years ago during the 2008-09 season.
With this, MSU has only faced Washington two times the program's series histories, in back-to-back seasons. In their first matchup during the 2007-08 season, the Green & White took their first meeting 6-1 in East Lansing.
During the following season, which was the last time the two teams met in 2008-09, the Huskies dominated Michigan State in a 7-0 sweep in Seattle, Wash.
With Washington joining the Big Ten Conference, meetings between these two teams will be more consistent in the upcoming years.
Scouting Washington
The Huskies have had a dominating season, earning a 16-2 overall record and a 8-1 Big Ten Conference record, securing six-straight conference wins within the previous weeks.
Washington currently has one ranked singles player, No. 95 Reece Carter, who has earned herself a 17-9 singles record throughout the season.
In doubles, the pairing of Reece Carter and Alexia Jacobs is ranked No. 48 overall.
With all of this, the Spartans have their work cut out for them for their Saturday matinee match.
Series History Versus Oregon
This will be the first time Michigan State meets their new Big Ten opponent in the all-time series.
Prior to joining the Big Ten Conference, Oregon did not face Michigan State, with Sunday serving as the inaugural meeting.
Scouting Oregon
The Ducks have had a competitive season, posing an 8-10 overall record and a 1-8 Big Ten Conference Record.
Oregon has faced several powerhouses, such as Texas Tech, UCLA, USC and Washington, falling to all said opponents.
Prior to facing MSU, the Ducks travel to Ann Arbor to challenge No. 5 Michigan on Saturday, a common theme that has occurred throughout the season with travel partners.
The Spartans hope to earn their first ever win against Oregon in their match Sunday morning.
