Wrestling Finishes No. 9 Nationally in Team GPA, Earns Team Scholar All-America Honor

EAST LANSING, Mich. – For the fourth consecutive year, Michigan State wrestling has earned National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division I Team Scholar All-America honors as announced on Thursday afternoon.

The Spartans posted an impressive 3.559 team grade point average to rank No. 9 in the country and No. 1 among all Big Ten conference institutions. MSU's team GPA is up from an already strong 3.43 a year ago that ranked No. 16 nationally and No. 2 in the B1G. Michigan State represents just one of three conference programs to rank in the nation's Top 30 this season (Michigan State, Northwestern, Minnesota).
Individually Michigan State had four current student-athletes (six total) honored with NWCA Scholar All-America honors on April 2. Redshirt juniors Andy Hampton (marketing) and Luke Daly (accounting), and redshirt sophomore Kael Wisler (civil engineering) became two-time honorees while graduate student Jay Nivison (sport coaching and leadership) earned his first NWCA Scholar All-American honor.
