Women’s Golf in Third Place Entering Final Round at the Buckeye Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team has two players among the top-10 overall and is in third place among 13 teams after the first day of play at the Buckeye Invitational, being played on the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being played on Ohio State's par-72, 6,319-yard course.
The Spartans stand in third place at 16-over par 592, with rounds of 7-over par 295 and 9-over par 297, respectively.
Host Ohio State leads the field at 9-over par 585, six shots ahead of second place Kent State (15-over par 591), with MSU one shot back at 16-over par 592. Rutgers (34-over par 610) and Indiana (35-over par 611) round out the top-five teams.
Senior Brooke Biermann and junior Taylor Kehoe are tied for fifth place, leading the Spartans. Biermann shot a 1-over par 145 with rounds of 1-over par 73 and even-par 72. Kehoe shot a 1-under par 70 in the opening round and followed up with a 2-over par 74.
Junior Paula Balanzategui is in 11th place at 7-over par 151 (74-77) and senior Katie Lu is tied for 16th place at 9-over par 153 (79-74).
Sophomore Ana Sofia Murcia is tied for 25th place at 12-over par 156 (77-79).
Sunday's final round tees off at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
