
Michigan State Throwers Win Three Events at Grand Valley State Extra Weekend Meet

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State track & field earned three wins from the its throwers on Saturday at the Grand Valley State Extra Weekend Meet in Allendale, Michigan.
In the women's hammer, Elle Adrian captured first place with a personal best of 59.45m. Her PR came ion her fourth attempt. Valadian Pallett finished second adding another personal best on the day for the Spartans. Her personal best of 59.03m came on her fifth attempt. Eriana Hubbard was sixth (52.46m), while Margaret Jones took eighth (50.32m).
Joshua DeVries continued his hot streak of late. After winning the hammer throw at the Virginia Challenge last weekend, he topped himself again this weekend with another first-place finish. He set another personal best with a throw of 65.52m. Colby Morlock had another strong event with a fourth-place finish (59.28m), while Brendan Vander Meer was fifth (58.68m).
In the men's shot put, Colby Morlock was the top collegiate finisher and was second overall. He recorded a season-best throw of 18.23m.
Jessica Stieb added to the win total on the day for Michigan State, capturing the women's shot put with a best throw of 16.15m, while Margaret Jones was fourth (13.63m). Â
The Spartans rounded out the day with the discus. In the men's event, Dalton DeBeau threw a season best 55.31m to finish third. His best throw came on his fifth attempt of the day. Dillon Morlock set a new personal best with a throw of 52.26m to take fourth place.
In the women's discus, Pallett had her second top-three finish of the day. With a throw of 50.95m, she was third. Stieb was fifth (45.46m), while Rylan Finstrom finished sixth (45.17m).
Michigan State had only two Spartans in action on the track. Melanie Macias recorded a season best, taking fourth place in the 400m hurdles in 1;03.48. In the men's 400m hurdles, Ben Classen finished eighth in 57.29.
Next week, MSU will travel to Columbus for the Jesse Owens Classic, May 2-3.
