EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State softball junior Kaelin Cash was named Second Team All-Great Lakes region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday. She's the third Spartan to earn All-Region honors in the last two years joining Hannah Hawley (2024) and Britain Beshears (2024).
A second team All-Big Ten honoree, Cash led Michigan State this past season in hitting (.376), marking the 13th best single season batting mark in program history. The Greenwood, Ind. native topped the Spartan batting charts in hits (47), RBIs (29), total bases (76), slugging (.608), on base percentage (.466) and OPS (1.074).
Cash's numbers didn't budge in conference action where she hit .375 with a .446 on base percentage and a .703 slugging percentage, good for a 1.149 OPS. Her six home runs, nine extra base hits, 24 total hits and 20 RBIs led Michigan State in B1G play. She got even better when playing against top competition, hitting .393 with a .464 on base and a .721 slugging against Top 75 RPI opponents.
On March 29, Cash broke the Michigan State single game records for home runs and RBIs with a three-home run, eight RBI performance against Michigan. Her 3-for-3 performance, which included a home run, was crucial in MSU's 6-4 upset over No. 3-ranked Oregon on May 2, marking the biggest upset by the Spartans since 1998.
