Four Spartan Football Kickoffs Announced by Big Ten Conference; Season Opener Moved to Friday, Aug. 29

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Big Ten Conference announced kickoff times for the first three games of the 2025 Michigan State football season and also for Homecoming on Thursday afternoon.
MSU's season opener has officially been moved to Friday, Aug. 29 against Western Michigan at 7 p.m. in Spartan Stadium; the game was originally scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 30. The game will be televised on FS1. This marks the 11th time in the past 15 years that Michigan State will open with a Friday night game in East Lansing; it's also the 13th time since 2011 that MSU will begin the season on a Friday night.
In Week 2, the Spartans will host Boston College in prime time on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m. on NBC.
Michigan State closes out the nonconference portion of its schedule on Saturday, Sept. 13 against Youngstown State at 3:30 p.m. on BTN.
MSU's Homecoming game against UCLA on Saturday, Oct. 11 has been set for a 12 p.m. kickoff; the TV network will be announced at a later date.
Two other Spartan road games were given time windows for a possible kickoff. MSU's games at Nebraska on Saturday, Oct. 4 and at Indiana on Saturday, Oct. 18 will start at either 12/3:30/4 p.m. ET. Those kickoffs will be confirmed at a later date.
