EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State head women's basketball coach Robyn Fralick and forward Grace VanSlooten will be taking part in the 2025 USA Basketball Women's AmeriCup Team trials, which will be held in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The trials are set to begin on June 17.
The participants were selected by the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee.
Fralick and Creighton head coach Jim Flanery will be court coaches for the trials. Kara Lawson (Duke) will serve as head coach with assistant coaches DeLisha Milton-Jones (Old Dominion) and Jennie Baranczyk (Oklahoma).
Fralick is the first Spartan women's basketball coach to work with the USA Basketball since former head coach Suzy Merchant was the head coach of the silver-medal winning team in the Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru in 2019. VanSlooten is the first Spartan to attend a team USA trial since Sidney Cooks attended U19 World Cup trials in 2017. Prior to coming to Michigan State, VanSlooten has experience on the U18 and U19 US National Teams.
In her first season with the Spartans, VanSlooten, a junior forward, earned second-team All-Big Ten honors. She led the team in scoring, averaging 15.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. She played in 31 games, starting 23.
Fralick is in her second season at Michigan State, leading the Spartans to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons. Under Fralick, MSU has gone 44-19 over the last two years.
Following the selection of the 2025 USA Women's AmeriCup Team and a training camp in Colorado Springs, the team will travel to Santiago, Chile, for the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup, set for June 28-July 6.
The 2025 USA Women's AmeriCup Team will open Group B with host nation Chile, followed by Colombia, Puerto Rico and Mexico. The winner of the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup will earn a berth to the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup, set to be held in Berlin next summer.
