Big Ten Announces 2025-26 Hockey Schedule

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Big Ten conference announced its full slate of hockey competition for the 2025-26 season on Friday afternoon as the countdown to hockey season begins on the banks of the Red Cedar River. Game times and television selections will be announced at a later date.
Michigan State's conference schedule features four games (two home, two away) against each of the other six league teams. The Spartans are set to host Michigan at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. for the annual Duel in the D game on Saturday, February 7. In total, MSU will play 17 home games (including two exhibitions) at Mason Rink at Munn Ice Arena this season.
The Spartans open the 2025-26 campaign with an exhibition against Windsor on Friday, October 3 before kicking off the regular season with a home series against New Hampshire (Oct. 9-10). MSU then hits the road for four straight, traveling to Boston University (Oct. 17-18) and Northern Michigan (Oct. 24-25).
Big Ten action gets underway on November 7-8 when Penn State arrives in East Lansing. The Spartans hit the road at Notre Dame (Nov. 14-15) before hosting Wisconsin in Munn on November 21-22. Michigan State will take the following week off B1G competition to welcome Colgate for non-conference games on November 26 and November 28.
Conference play resumes before the holiday break with the first of two split location series against Michigan, with MSU taking on the Wolverines at home on December 5 before heading to Ann Arbor, Mich. on December 6.
Michigan State will once again participate in the annual Great Lakes Invitational, which returns for its 59th edition in 2025. The Spartans, who were champions at the 2024 GLI, will look to defend that title against Ferris State (Dec. 28) and either Michigan Tech or Miami (Ohio) on December 29. MSU's non-conference schedule concludes with an exhibition against the USA Hockey National Team Development Program U18 team at Munn on January 4.

The tournament will be shortened to two weeks and begin on Wednesday, March 11, with single-elimination quarterfinal games on campus sites. The No. 1 seed will gain a bye into the semifinals, slated for Saturday, March 14. The highest seeded team following the semifinals will host the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday, March 21.
