Matt Gulbin Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State fifth-year offensive lineman Matt Gulbin is one of 40 centers in the FBS to land on the Rimington Trophy Watch List, which was released on Friday.
The award is presented annually to the most outstanding center in college football.
The Rimington Trophy works in collaboration with Pro Football Focus (PFF) in compiling the preseason watch list.
Gulbin, a graduate transfer from Wake Forest, played in 41 games for the Demon Deacons the past four seasons with 23 starts (22 at guard, one at center). He garnered honorable mention All-ACC accolades in 2024 after starting all 12 games and grading out as the No. 2 overall guard in the ACC by Pro Football Focus.
A native of Wilton, Connecticut, Gulbin transferred to Michigan State in January 2025 and primarily took snaps at center during spring practice for the Spartans.
Michigan State's 2025 season opener is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 29 vs. Western Michigan at 7 p.m. in Spartan Stadium.

The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in NCAA Division I College Football. Since its inception, the award has raised over $5 million for the Boomer Esiason Foundation.
Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only two-time winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
