EAST LANSING, Mich. - In a preview of the upcoming Big Ten Championships, Michigan State's men's and women's Cross Country teams will host the 44th-annual Spartan Invite/B1G Preview presented by Auto-Owners Insurance at the Forest Akers East Golf Course Friday morning.

The Forest Akers East Course will open for spectators at 8 a.m. with the men's collegiate 8K starting at 9 a.m., the women's 6K at 9:40 a.m., followed by the high school races starting at 10:10 a.m.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. All tickets must be purchased on site.
On the women's side, seven Big Ten teams will make the trip to East Lansing to compete against the Spartans. MSU will be joined by Indiana, Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, Purdue and Rutgers. Cincinnati and Grand Valley State will join several other local teams.
The men's race will include five B1G teams: MSU, Indiana, Ohio State, Purdue and Rutgers.
Both Michigan State cross country teams began the 2025 season with victories at the 40th Annual Jeff Drenth Memorial on Friday, Aug. 29 hosted by Central Michigan.
At the Jeff Drenth Memorial, the women got the action going first, finishing first with 38 points, just ahead of Western Michigan with 39 points. Meghan Beute was the top attached finisher, crossing the line in 17:31.2 in the 5k race.Â
On the men's side, the Spartans won with 46 points. Patrick Byrnes set a new personal best in a 5k race with a time of 14:47.30 to be the top attached runner.
Michigan State will host the Big Ten Championships on Friday, Oct. 31 at Forest Akers East. This is the first time that the teams have hosted the Big Ten Cross Country Championships since 2012.
