MSU Men’s Tennis Schedule Update: Spartans’ ITA Kickoff Weekend Action Moved Up

Michigan State will now play Thursday and Friday in South Carolina.
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State men's tennis action at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kickoff Weekend hosted by South Carolina has been moved up, playing on Thursday and Friday now due to inclement weather in the weekend forecast for the Columbia, South Carolina area.
Instead of playing Saturday and Sunday, the 24th-ranked Spartans will now open action by facing Harvard on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m., before facing either (RV) Clemson or No. 14 ranked South Carolina in the second match on Friday, Jan. 23. Thursday's winners will square off against each other, while Thursday's two losing teams will play in the other match. Friday's match schedule was also altered and the consolation match will now be played at 10 a.m. and championship match will be played at 1 p.m.

The 18th annual ITA Kickoff Weekend takes place this weekend at various facilities across the country, featuring 56 teams. The weekend's 14 winning teams will qualify for the ITA National Team Indoor Championship Feb. 13-17, played in both Dallas and Waco, Texas, co-hosted by SMU and Baylor.
The Spartans return home to the MSU Indoor Tennis Center for the second of three scheduled matches against an SEC opponent, taking on Tennessee on Feb. 6 at 6:30 p.m., before another Southeastern Conference foe the following weekend at Vanderbilt (Feb. 15).
