EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State head football coach Pat Fitzgerald has named Winston DeLattiboudere III the program's defensive line coach.
After spending one season in the NFL as the defensive line coach with the Arizona Cardinals, DeLattiboudere III (DEE-lat-TEE-bo-DARE) is returning to the college ranks as the defensive line coach for the Spartans.
DeLattiboudere coached the defensive line for two seasons (2023-24) at his alma mater, Minnesota, prior to heading to the NFL with Arizona in 2025. He has both played and coached for Joe Rossi at Minnesota and was promoted to assistant head coach for the Gophers during the 2024 season.
"Winston DeLattiboudere is a rising star in the coaching profession," said Fitzgerald. "He not only has worked at the highest level of football, but has coached and developed players throughout his college career who are playing on Sundays. Winston has also coached with Joe Rossi before, so he has a familiarity with the defensive scheme. I'm looking forward to having Winston on staff and mentoring our players in the defensive line room."
In his second year at Minnesota in 2024, DeLattiboudere helped the Gopher defense rank among the FBS leaders in total defense (No. 5 at 287.5 ypg), scoring defense (No. 9 at 16.9 ppg) and rushing defense (No. 12 at 109.6 ypg). He tutored defensive end Jah Joyner, a two-time All-Big Ten honorable mention selection who led the team with 7.5 sacks in 2023 and finished his career with 14.5 sacks, 10th-most in school history. In 2023, DeLattiboudere's defensive line improved its sack total by 9.5 sacks from the year before (10.5 to 20), and the group also forced six fumbles with three recoveries, broke up seven passes and made one interception.
During his one season at Arizona, DeLattiboudere coached six-time Pro Bowler Calais Campbell, who led the Cardinal defensive line and ranked second on the team with 6.5 sacks. Campbell's 117 career sacks rank 25th all-time in NFL history.
Prior to coaching with the Arizona Cardinals, DeLattidoudere had previous experience in the NFL as a two-time participant in the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship (2023 Green Bay Packers and 2022 Jacksonville Jaguars). He was recognized in 2024 by the American Football Coaches Association as he was selected to the AFCA's 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute, which is aimed at identifying and developing premier, future leaders in the football coaching profession.
DeLattiboudere landed his first full-time coaching position as the defensive line coach at Akron in 2022, where he coached Victor Jones, who led the team in sacks (5.5) and tackles for loss (11.5).
As a graduate assistant coaching the defensive line at Oregon in 2021, DeLattiboudere worked with three players who earned All-Pac-12 honors, including first-round draft pick Kayvon Thibodeaux, a first-team All-American and finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Chuck Bednarik Award.
DeLattiboudere started his coaching career as a defensive line graduate assistant at Charlotte in 2020.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, DeLattiboudere spent five seasons (2015-19) as a defensive lineman at Minnesota. He played in 51 career games, including 36 starts, and had 83 tackles, 13.5 TFLs and five sacks. As a senior in 2019, he earned Academic All-Big Ten honors and was named the team's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient in addition to winning the program's Tony Dungy Award for character and community service.
DeLattiboudere earned both his bachelor's degree (sociology of law, criminology, and justice in 2018) and master's degree (youth development in 2019) from Minnesota.
He is married to his wife, Shelby.
