
Spartan Men’s Tennis Opens Spring Ranked No. 20 in ITA Preseason Poll

Michigan State men’s tennis earns national recognition ahead of 2026 home opener.
EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State men's tennis will open the 2026 spring season ranked No. 20 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Preseason Poll announced Wednesday, earning recognition as one of the nation's top programs.
The Spartans are one of five Big Ten programs to appear in the preseason rankings, setting the stage for a challenging competition schedule. The Spartans' No. 20 placement marks another notable preseason ranking for the program. Joining the Spartans in the rankings are B1G foes No. 6 Ohio State, No. 12 UCLA, No. 19 USC and No. 24 Illinois.
MSU returns a strong core of experience from last season, highlighted by senior Ozan Baris and sophomore Matthew Forbes, who both participated in the NCAA Individual Championships in the fall. The lineup for the Green & White features a combination of veteran leadership and emerging underclassmen.
The Spartans open play at home next Wednesday, Jan. 14, against in-state opponent Western Michigan, starting at 5 p.m. Competition will be held at the MSU Tennis Center.
