Spartans Drop Decision at Charlotte, 8-0

East Lansing, Mich. -- Michigan State had its four-game winning streak snapped at Charlotte, as the 49ers posted a 8-0 victory in five innings. MSU was limited to a pair of hits in the loss, which drops the Spartans to 5-2.

Charlotte put up a big second inning with six runs on seven hits, and had single runs in the first and fifth innings, the last scored on a sac fly. The home team did it with small ball, as only one hit of its nine was for extra bases.Â

MSU had a pair of base hits, belonging to Sydney Doloszycki and Hannah Hawley. Charlotte starter Taylor Jones surrendered the two hits, walked two, and forced the Spartans into eight ground-ball outs on the day. She got support from a pair of base hits from both Olivia Williams and Audrey Wilson, while Jenna Lord was 1-for-3 with three RBI.Â

Autumn Behlke took the loss in the circle for MSU, surrendering six runs on seven hits in 1.2 innings. Alex Starr threw three innings in relief, scattering three hits and walking one, allowing just one run.Â
