Wrestling Falls to No. 14 Rutgers

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State wrestling fell to No. 14-ranked Rutgers on Friday night, 29-9, from Jenison Field House.
The Spartans move to 4-8 overall and 1-6 in Big Ten duals while Rutgers improves to 12-5 (5-3 B1G). MSU returns to the mat on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. ET against No. 9-ranked Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Rutgers earned decisions at 125 and 133 pounds, but MSU bounced back to earn a decision at 141.
Redshirt senior Andy Hampton bumped up to the 141-pound weight class to take on Rutgers' Mason Gibson, where he defeated the former Fargo and Super32 Champion by decision, 9-6.
The Scarlet Knights won the next six bouts of the night to secure the dual victory.
Redshirt junior heavyweight Josh Terrill capped the night off with a win by disqualification. Terrill earned a quick reversal to start the second period and turned that into a full set of near-fall points. Rutgers heavyweight Brandon Toranzo hit the limit of stall calls of five before being disqualified.
