2/3/2026 1:16:00 PM | Softball
East Lansing, Mich. -- Michigan State softball head coach Sharonda McDonald-Kelley has announced the captains for the 2026 season as voted by the team. The leadership group includes seniors Britain Beshears (Novi, Mich.), Sydney Doloszycki, (Saint John, Ind.), and Kirsten Caravaca (Davie, Fla.). along with junior Hannah Greer (Hopewell Junction, NY).Â
Â
Beshears will serve as a team captain for the second straight season. She appeared in 43 games a season ago, splitting her time between 1B (16 GP) and designated hitter (24 GP). She smacked eight homers (third on the team) a year ago and had 15 as a sophomore - good for second all-time in a single season (Lindsey Hansen '11 had 20 in 2011). Beshears' 24 career home runs rank in a tie for sixth in program history. Hansen is MSU's all-time leader with 42, and Lea Forester '18 ranks second with 33.Â
Â
Doloszycki and Beshears are the only two seniors to have spent their entire collegiate careers in Green & White. Doloszycki started all 44 games she played a year ago and has started 105 of 111 games over three seasons (she missed part of her freshman year with injury).  Last season, she logged a team-best 131 at-bats, posting team highs in doubles (7) and sharing the team high in RBI (29). She was second on the squad in homers (9) and sac hits (7).Â
Â
Caravaca is in her first season at MSU. The North Florida transfer helped the Ospreys to an ASUN title a year ago and earned All-ASUN honors. She started 59 games and hit .345 with 12 doubles, three triples, a pair of homers, and 34 RBI. She also boasted a .988 fielding percentage behind the plate.Â
Â
Greer is starting her second season in East Lansing. She hit .278 as a sophomore, with nine extra-base hits (five doubles, four homers), driving in 21 runs. Greer played 40 games in the middle infield for the Spartans a year ago.Â
Â
Michigan State begins the 2026 season this Friday at the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic in Clearwater with five games.Â
