SCORING RECAPS
- Bernard led off the game with a triple (her second of the season), and three hitter Hannah Hawley drew a walk and stole second. Sophia Grillo came to the plate with two on in scoring position and two outs and laced an infield single to score Bernard. Sydney Doloszycki followed with a single to center that scored Hawley, but Grillo was thrown out trying to take third base.Â
- Grillo led off the top of the fourth inning with a walk and was replaced by pinch runner Ava Coffinger. Coffinger stole second before Doloszycki singled to put two on, but the runners were stranded.  In the bottom of the frame, a leadoff single and groundout put a runner at second for Brooke Masingale; she brought home a run with a single to left to make it a 2-1 game.Â
- MSU added to its lead in the top of the sixth. Kendall Smiley reached on a fielder's choice and came around to score on Payton Conroy's two-out double down the left field line. Bernard doubled into shallow left to plate Conroy, extending the Spartan advantage to 4-1.
- The Lancers tried to rally in the bottom of the seventh, putting a pair of runners on via walk. Alex Starr entered with the two on and one out, earning her first collegiate save by retiring the side.Â
