Three Spartans Capture CSC All-District Honors

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Three Michigan State women's basketball players were named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District. Senior forward Grace VanSlooten, senior guard Emma Shumate and redshirt-sophomore guard Kennedy Blair all earned the honor.
VanSlooten, a native of Toledo, Ohio, earned her second CSC Academic All-District honors She is also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. VanSlooten led the team in scoring, averaging 15.1 ppg. She also captured second-team All-Big Ten honors two-straight seasons. She is pursuing a degree in communication.
Shumate, a native of Dresden, Ohio, is a four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. This was also her second CSC All-District honor. She also captured Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors at both Michigan State and Ohio State. During her senior season, she played in all 32 games. She led the team in 3-pointers with 61. She is earning her degree in sustainable parks and recreation.
Blair, a native of Dearborn, Michigan, earned her first CSC All-District honor. She has captured Academic All-Big Ten honors two-straight seasons. Blair is second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.5 ppg. She and VanSlooten are the only two Spartans to have started all 32 games.
This is the second-straight season that the Spartans have had three players earn All-District honors.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
