Spartans Drop Series Finale to Terps, 7-2

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State softball fell to Maryland, 7-2, in the finale of a three-game set on Sunday afternoon. Michigan State falls to 17-31 (3-17 B1G), while Maryland (with a bye in the final weekend of the regular season) finishes at 19-299 (5-19 B1G) on the season.
MSU's 2-3-4 hitters (and all seniors) Kirsten Caravaca, Sydney Doloszycki, and Hannah Hawley each had two hits on the day, with Caravaca and Hawley smacking doubles and each having an RBI.
Keira Bucher, who pitched in relief in Friday evenings affair, earned the win in the circle for Maryland, while Jacey Schuler took the loss, allowing four earned runs. The Terps also had three players with two hits on the day and a team total of 11 base knocks to seven for the Spartans.

- Alex Starr threw the final 2.2 innings, her longest outing in the Big Ten schedule. She struck out a career-best four of the eight batters she faced, surrendering just two base hits.
- Natalie Lower also had her longest outing in a Big Ten game (1.1 innings) and struck out two, which is also her career best.
Scoring Summaries
- Maryland opened the scoring action in the top of the first inning with two runs from three singles from Sammi Woods, Zayda Rocke and a two-RBI single from Anna McGowan. The Spartans countered in the bottom of the first when Hannah Hawley lined a double into the left center field gap allowing Sydney Doloszycki to score from second base, making it a 2-1 game.
- Maryland would stretch the lead to three in the top of the third when Bailey Murphy smacked a line drive double into shallow left center field just out of the reach of a diving Sydney Doloszycki. Zoie Bernard got the ball into Kayla Franklin, who tagged Murphy out at third attempting to advance an extra base to end the inning – but not before two runners came across.
- The Terrapins added to the lead in the top of the fourth from a trio of singles. With one run already across, Mariah Penta sent a sac fly to right to plate Caitlyn Cornwell. Matti Benson singled into the gap in right center for the third run of the inning. Alyssa Galindo came out of the bullpen to record the third and final out of the inning, leaving the bases loaded.
- Caravaca brought home Bernard with a double to put a second run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth. MSU stranded Caravaca in the fifth and two runners in both the sixth and seventh innings (eight in the game).
