Michael DeRoy enters his first year as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at Michigan State in 2026.
DeRoy previously worked for three years under head strength and conditioning coach Joel Welsh at Central Michigan as an assistant director of strength and conditioning for the Chippewas from 2023-25. DeRoy worked with the football, wrestling and lacrosse teams at CMU.
He spent the 2022-23 academic year as an assistant human performance coach at Miami (Ohio), where he directed strength and conditioning programs for the men's and women's swimming & diving, baseball, and softball teams.
DeRoy previously worked at Central Michigan as a summer intern from May-July 2021. He was also a graduate assistant at both Kent State (2021-22) and Minnesota State-Moorhead (2020-21), working with a variety of sports, including men's and women's track & field, men's and women's cross country, cheer and dance, developmental baseball, wrestling, women's tennis, women's swimming & diving, and women's soccer.
Originally from Warren, Michigan, DeRoy graduated from Saginaw Valley State with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science in August 2020. He earned a Master of Education degree in educational leadership from Minnesota State-Moorhead in July 2021.
DeRoy is a certified strength and conditioning specialist.
