Nick Ruffing is in his 14th year with the Michigan State football program, his eighth as a full-time offensive analyst. Ruffing provides the offensive coaches with statistical reports, including self-scouting, game film analysis and opponent tendency details. In addition, he handles opponent defensive breakdowns and scouting materials.
Ruffing served as a graduate assistant during the 2011 season, assisting former offensive line coach Mark Staten, and was a video intern in 2012 and 2013.
Ruffing returned to MSU in 2015 during the Spartans’ Big Ten Championship season as a recruiting intern after serving as the scouting/player personnel intern for the Detroit Lions in 2014.
The East Lansing, Michigan, native previously spent two years (2009-10) working as a graduate assistant in the weight room under Ken Mannie.
Ruffing also served as an assistant coach for five years under Bill Feraco at East Lansing High School. He was a two-year letterman as an offensive tackle at East Lansing High School where he played for Coach Jeff Smith.
Ruffing earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology and a specialization in coaching from Michigan State in 2008. He received his master’s degree in kinesiology/sports administration from MSU in December 2011.
Ruffing and his wife, Katie, have been married for nine years.
