Michigan State football has announced the hiring of veteran NFL scout Antwon Murray as the program's Executive Director of Player Personnel in June 2025.
Murray has spent the previous nine years as a scout for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including serving as a national scout the past three years. Prior to his promotion as a national scout in 2023, Murray was an area scout for four years, where he was responsible for scouting the Midwest.
He was Tampa Bay's National Football Scouting/Combine Scout for two seasons before getting elevated to an area scout in 2018. While serving as the NFS/Combine scout, Murray was responsible for evaluating players, gathering information and building reports on behalf of National Football Scouting and the Buccaneers. During his time in Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV and appeared in the NFL Playoffs five straight seasons, including four consecutive AFC South titles.
Prior to his time with the Buccaneers, Murray worked at his alma mater, Boise State, where he was the Director of Recruiting for two seasons (2014-15). Murray oversaw all identification, research and evaluation of prospective student-athletes while coordinating the planning and execution of all recruiting visits. He was also responsible for implementing player development protocols to acclimate new players, both on and off the field. The Broncos went 21-6 during his two seasons back with the program, including a Fiesta Bowl win over Arizona to cap the 2014 season in which BSU went 12-2 and finished No. 16 in the AP Poll.
Murray's first collegiate position was at Arkansas State under Bryan Harsin as the Director of Player Personnel in 2013. Before following Harsin to Boise State in 2014, Murray managed the recruiting board and all prospect evaluations for the Red Wolves during Harsin's lone season in Jonesboro.
A native of Lakeland, Florida, Murray played defensive back at Boise State from 2007-11, earning letters in 2010 and 2011. A member of the Bronco Leadership Council, he was the recipient of the Bronco Ambassador Award at the team's annual banquet following the conclusion of the 2011 regular season, and graduated with a degree in communication in 2011. He was a part of the winningest class in college football history at the time, capping his career with a 50-3 record, including three bowl victories.
Upon graduation, Murray worked as a high school history teacher for two years in his hometown of Lakeland before arriving at Arkansas State in 2013.
Murray completed the NFL Executive Development Program in the Michigan Ross School of Business in June 2024.
