Darius Hicks is in his second year as the director of scouting for the Michigan State football program. He spent the 2023 spring semester as a defensive analyst before transitioning roles over the summer.

Hicks spent one season (2022) as the assistant defensive backs and cornerbacks coach at Southeast Missouri State prior to his arrival at MSU.

He previously was the defensive backs coach at his alma mater, Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa, for three years (2019-21). Prior to returning to Morningside, Hicks spent one season (2018) as the cornerbacks coach and assistant special teams coordinator at Emporia State.

Hicks played college football at Morningside University in Sioux City, Iowa. He was an All-Great Plains Athletic Conference honoree as a senior in 2013 and played on the NAIA national runner-up team for the Mustangs as a junior in 2012. Following his playing days, he began his coaching career at Morningside as a student coach, defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator for the Mustangs from 2014-17.
