Jack Harris is in his second year as an offensive graduate assistant at Michigan State. He previously spent two seasons (2018-19) as an offensive graduate assistant at his alma mater, Colorado.
Harris returned to Colorado after spending one season working with the offensive line as a graduate assistant at Central Michigan in 2017. Prior to arriving at CMU, he was the tight ends coach for Western State in Gunnison (2016) the offensive line coach at Tabor College in Hillsboro (2015).
He was a three-year starter for the Buffaloes, having started all 12 games at left offensive tackle as a senior, when he played the second-most snaps on offense and the fourth-most on the team overall (799). His teammates selected him as a captain his senior year, as well as earning first-team All-Colorado honors from the state’s chapter of the National Football Foundation and shared the team’s Offensive Trench Award. He also played every snap (56) on the FG/PAT unit on special teams.
As a junior in 2012, he started 11 games, six at right guard and five at right tackle, finally getting some consistent playing time after missing the bulk of the 2011 season (his sophomore campaign) with an ankle injury.
Harris graduated with a double major in anthropology and sociology from Colorado in May 2013. Following graduation, he moved to Bakersfield, California, where he was working in the oil fields in the area for two years while coaching and working with under-privileged youth within Kern County.
Harris was born May 11, 1991 in Littleton, Colorado, and graduated from Chaparral High School in nearby Parker, Colorado, where he lettered in football and basketball; he was a high school All-American as an offensive lineman and was also named first-team All-Colorado and All-State (5A) by both the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News.
He is married to the former Jessica Ermish, and the couple have one child, Kahlea (born October 2018). His grandfather, John Boice, played for the Chicago Bears as a tight end/defensive end. His cousin played offensive line for Nebraska.
