Taylor Porter, who has 14 years of experience working at both the NFL and Power 5 levels, enters his fourth season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at Michigan State in 2023.
Porter arrived at MSU in 2020 after working as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019. He previously spent three seasons as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Tennessee Titans (2016-18), and has also been a strength and conditioning intern for the Cleveland Browns (2015), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2015) and Houston Texans (2013).
Porter was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Nebraska from 2013-15, assisting with all aspects of the strength and conditioning program for football, including winter conditioning, summer workouts and in-season training. He has also worked as a strength and conditioning coach at TCU (2010) and Louisville (2010-13).
Porter is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also a registered strength and conditioning coach (RSCC) through the NSCA and is a USA Weightlifting (USAW) sports performance coach.
A native of Chicago Heights, Illinois, Porter grew up in New London, Wisconsin, and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology at Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he also played football. Porter earned his master’s degree in justice administration from Louisville.
Porter and his wife, Liz, have an infant daughter, Minnie Monroe.
