Henk returned to his native Michigan after spending four years in the NBA as the head equipment manager for the Los Angeles Lakers (2019-23). While with the Lakers, Henk spent 97 days in the NBA bubble during the COVID-19 pandemic and was part of the team that won the 2020 NBA Championship.
Prior to his move to the West Coast, Henk spent two years with the Detroit Pistons (2017-19), first as an equipment intern and then being promoted to a full-time assistant equipment manager during the 2018-19 season.
His first experience in the NBA came in 2016, when he was an account executive in organizational business development for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Henk was with the Cavs when the team won the 2016 NBA title.
He started his professional career with the MSU Athletics Department, serving as a development coordinator for the Spartan Fund in 2014-15 and returned during the summer of 2017 for a short stint as an intern in the ticket office while volunteering in the MSU football equipment room.
A 2014 graduate of Michigan State with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Henk was a manager for Head Coach Tom Izzo from 2012-14, part of teams that won the Big Ten Tournament Championship in 2014 and reached the Sweet 16 in 2013 and the Elite Eight in 2014. He earned a master’s of business administration in athletic administration from Southern New Hampshire University in 2017.
