Volunteer assistant coach Erin Pond joined the Spartan softball staff in the fall of 2019.
Pond spent the last two seasons at Ashland University, where she served as an assistant coach. She helped guide the Eagles to a 56-48 record over two seasons, and was involved in all the day-to-day aspects of coaching and program operations. Among her charges was a second team All-American and seven All-GLIAC athletes.Â

Pond spent two years (2016-18) as assistant softball coach at NCAA Division III Muskingum. While with the Fighting Muskies, she helped improve the team batting average nearly 40 points to .333, and helped the squad improve from 17-23 to 26-12 in 2018. While serving as the assistant coach, she earned her masters degree in Adult Education while also serving as the JV program's head coach. During her tenure, the Muskies boasted six NFCA All-America Scholars and NFCA All-Central Region selections.Â

A four-year NCAA Division I college softball player at Akron (2013-14) and Penn State (2015-16), Pond played in 175 career games, recording 116 hits, 64 runs scored, 18 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 52 RBIs and 19 stolen bases. She garnered Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2016, and earned a spot on the Dean's List at both Akron and Penn State on multiple occasions.Â

While at Penn State, she was also a student assistant in the Facilities and Operations department, helping to facilitate stadium tours, stadium club and suite sales, and other external stadium events. She earned her undergraduate degree in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management in 2016.Â

As a prep standout at Keystone High School, Pond was the Patriot Athletic Conference Player of the Year in both 2011 and 2012, and was a four-year All-Ohio, all-district and All-PAC performer.
