In 2017 alone, the Spartans established new offensive team records in seven categories: runs (345), batting average (.313), homers (66), RBI (320), total bases (820), slugging percentage (.528) and on-base percentage (.405), while several individual single-season and career records also fell.
Before coming to Michigan State, Jackson spent the previous five years on the South Carolina campus, holding two positions on the staff after two seasons as a student-athlete. In 2015, she was the team's volunteer assistant coach, and prior to that spent two years working as the top graduate assistant. In her coaching role, her primary duties included assistance in running the outfield as well as assisting in the management of infield practice and strategy. She was the team's first base coach in all competition, as well as providing guidance and assistance in hitting instruction and mental training. She also helped produce scouting reports, and also played a role in planning and executing several summer camp and clinics.
The Morristown, Tenn. native played two years for head coach Beverly Smith at South Carolina, starting 26 games as the designated player for the Gamecocks during 2012 and earned Capital One Academic All-District 4 honors. Twice, she earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
A former standout at Chattanooga State, Jackson earned NJCAA All-America accolades with the Tigers, tying for fourth with 18 homers among NJCAA Division I student-athletes in 2010. Jackson helped CSCC to the 2010 NJCAA World Series.
Jackson earned her B.S. in psychology in May 2012 and her master's degree in exercise science in 2014 at South Carolina.
