2013-14: 2013-14 Academic All-Big Ten honoree ... Owns the fourth-best 100 and 200 backstroke times in MSU history with a career-best 49.43 and 1:47.19, respectively ... He also stands at sixth in school history in the 100 freestyle, posting a personal-best time of 44.73 ... In the meet versus the University of Michigan in the 100 freestyle, McGowan turned in a season-best time of 45.90 to place third overall ... Personal-best time of 49.77 to finish 36th at the Big Ten Swim & Dive Championships in the 100 backstroke.
2012-13: Recorded the second-best time on the team in the 100 backstroke with a career-best time of 49.43 and in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:47.87 as well as the fifth-best time on the team in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.81, all at the Big Ten Championships ... Swam the sixth-fastest time on the team in the 100 freestyle with a time of 45.94 at the USA Winter Nationals ...
