Education: Smith graduated in 2019 with a B.S. in athletic training and in 2021 with an M.S. in kinesiology from Michigan State University.
Job Responsibilities: Smith is responsible for the development and implementation of the strength & conditioning program for Gymnastics and Track & Field (Sprints, Jumps, Combined Events, Throws). Smith is also responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of the Jenison Fieldhouse weight room, as well as oversight of the graduate assistants.
Past Experience: After graduation, he completed a strength & conditioning internship at the University of Cincinnati working with football. Smith returned to Michigan State in the fall of 2019 as a professional intern with the Olympic sports and in the spring, he was promoted to a graduate assistant position. Smith obtained his master's degree in kinesiology in May of 2021 from Michigan State University. He is a B.O.C. certified athletic trainer, certified strength and conditioning specialist (NSCA), and strength and conditioning coach certified (CSCCa). Smith is also a NASM certified corrective exercise specialist.
