Rayanne Nguyen, MS, RD, CSSD, CSOWM, LDN joined MSU as the assistant sports performance dietitian in July 2018. She was a swimmer at Fresno State, served as team captain her final two seasons, and garnered second-team all-conference and academic all-conference awards. Simultaneously, she completed her bachelor’s degree in dietetics and food administration, getting her first experiences with sports nutrition as a student-athlete, volunteer, and project leader.
Nguyen went on to earn her master’s degree in nutrition & dietetics and graduate certificate in eating disorders and obesity (EDOC) from Northern Illinois University. Her thesis research was in sports beverages and exercise performance which was presented at the American College of Sports Medicine conference the following year. Upon completion of her 1,200-hour dietetic internship, Nguyen began working as a registered and licensed dietitian in Chicago in the outpatient and private practice settings, specializing in sports nutrition, eating disorders, weight management, and culinary education. She has also done volunteer and consulting work for a number of companies, fitness clubs, and universities related to sports nutrition and is both a certified specialist in obesity and weight management (CSOWM) and a certified specialist in sports dietetics (CSSD).
Nguyen is a member of the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietitians Association (CPSDA), Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), and multiple dietetic practice groups. In her spare time, she enjoys watching Chicago sports, cooking and experimenting with recipes in the kitchen, and as a California native, spending time at the beach. She lives in the East Lansing area with her husband, Jonathan.
