No. 11 Gymnastics Welcomes No. 24 Maryland, Western Michigan to Jenison Field House Sunday

EAST LANSING, Mich. -Â No. 11 Michigan State gymnastics hosts No. 24 Maryland and Western Michigan for a tri-meet on Sunday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. inside Jenison Field House. Sunday's meet will celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

MSU remained at No. 11 in this week's RoadtoNationals rankings (196.690 average) after a 197.125-196.725 win at then-No. 14 Penn State on Feb. 8. The Spartans evened their Big Ten record to 2-2 on the season and dealt the Nittany Lions their first conference loss of 2026 with the win. In the Big Ten standings, UCLA sits in first with an undefeated 4-0 record, while Penn State and Ohio State are in a tie for second at 3-1 and MSU's 2-2 mark is in a five-way tie for fourth.
MSU 197.125 was its second-highest score of the season and second score over the 197.000 mark in as many weeks.Â
In the team event rankings, the Spartans are a team-high No. 9 on beam (49.240 average), No. 10 on vault (49.195), No. 13 on floor (49.225) and No. 23 on bars (49.000). Individually, senior Nikki Smith ranks in a tie for sixth nationally on floor with a 9.920 average, while senior Sage Kellerman is in a tie for 12th on bars (9.895).
MSU captured at least a share of three out of four possible event titles at Penn State, led by Smith, who won a share of the vault title alongside junior MaKayla Tucker with a season-high 9.875 and earned the outright floor title with her second-straight 9.950 on the event. She also won her first all-around title of 2026 with a season-high 39.550. Kellerman won a share of the bars title for the second-consecutive week with a 9.900.
SCOUTING MARYLAND
Maryland is 24th in this week's RoadtoNationals rankings with a 195.775 team average and 5-2 overall with a 2-2 B1G record this season. The Terrapins are coming off of a 196.175-195.600 home loss to Rutgers on Feb. 7. Maryland's best event this season is vault, where it's ranked a team-high No. 17 with a 49.045 season average.
MSU and Maryland last met during the regular season in 2024 in a 197.550-195.525 victory in Jenison Field House. The Spartans have not dropped a contest to the Terrapins since finishing fifth at the 2019 Big Five Meet, where Maryland placed fourth.
SCOUTING WESTERN MICHIGAN
Western Michigan holds a 194.625 season average, good for 45th in the NCAA, and posts an 8-4 overall record and 2-1 mark in Mid-American Conference action this season. The Broncos scored a season-high 195.575 in their last outing on Feb. 6, earning a tri-meet victory over Northern Illinois and West Virginia at NIU.Â
Originally scheduled to face Iowa State on the road this weekend, the Broncos were added to Sunday's meet earlier this week following the cancelation of Iowa State's season.
MSU and Western Michigan last met in the Spartans' 2025 season opener on Jan. 4 last season, with MSU earning a 196.850-194.675 victory in Jenison Field House. The Spartans have not lost to the Broncos since a 2020 dual meet in Kalamazoo.
