Austin D'Armond, who spent two seasons as the assistant director of recruiting at Oregon State, followed Jonathan Smith to East Lansing in December 2023 to serve as the program's director of player personnel/defense.

Oregon State went 18-7 during D'Armond's two years in Corvallis, where he worked directly with Michael Doctor on the Beavers' recruiting efforts.

He first gained experience working a variety of roles at Texas as both an undergraduate and graduate student. While earning his bachelor's degree in kinesiology/sport management, he spent a year as a lead recruiting assistant and nearly two years as a recruiting intern for the Longhorns. Upon graduating, he became a player personnel graduate assistant for nearly two years and received his master's in educational psychology.
