NOTES:
* The win was Miami's first over Michigan State since Feb. 14, 1997 (2-1 in East Lansing, MSU was 6-0-2 since). It marks Miami's first win over MSU at Goggin Ice Arena since Oct. 29, 1993 (5-1).
* Michigan State trailed after one period for the first time since its season opener at Colorado College (Oct. 9).
* Miami's 12-6 shots-on-goal margin was MSU's biggest deficit in shots since its first period of the season, Oct. 9 against Colorado College. It was equaled by Miami's 6-0 shot advantage in the third period.
* Miami recorded its first lead over the Spartans in 15 periods, since the second period on Jan. 30, 1998 (1-0). That game finished tied, 1-1.
* Freshman defenseman John-Michael Liles had his first career two-goal game and sophomore right wing Adam Hall had his first career-two-assist game.
* Michigan State snapped an 0-for-19 stretch on the power play with its first PPG of the game. MSU scored two PPGs in a game for the first time since Oct. 29 against Ferris State (five games).
