Notes:
* Michigan State was swept in a weekend series for the first time since Oct. 25 and 27, 1996 (at Boston College and Northeastern). The last time the Spartans were swept in a weekend by the same team was Feb. 10-11, 1995, against Miami at Munn Ice Arena. That was also the last time Miami won back-to-back games against Michigan State.
* The Spartans have lost back-to-back games for the first time since the end of the 1996-97 season (March 15 vs. Michigan, March 22 vs. Minnesota). MSU was 10-0-1 in its last 11 games following a loss.
* Michigan State was shut out for the first time since Feb. 7, 1997, a scoreless tie at Miami. It marked the first shutout loss for MSU since a 1-0 loss to Bowling Green Dec. 7, 1996, at Munn Ice Arena.
* Miami?s 11 shots on goal tied the fourth-fewest ever allowed by the Spartans in a game. The school record was nine shots on goal (vs. Nebraska-Omaha Dec. 4, 1998).
