NOTES:
? MSU?s 45 shots on goal were its most this season. The previous high was 44 against Michigan Tech Dec. 29.
? SR C Shawn Horcoff built upon his lead in the national scoring race. Horcoff?s goal gave him 38 points on the year (nine goals, 29 assists), one more point than his total from all of last season. He entered tonight two points ahead of Wisconsin?s Steve Reinprecht for the national scoring lead. Reinprecht faced North Dakota tonight.
? Head coach Ron Mason celebrated his 60th birthday today.
? MSU?s 19 shots on goal in the first period equaled the most in a first period for the Spartans this season. MSU also had 19 shots on goal in the first period against Nebraska Omaha on Oct. 15.
? FR RW Steve Jackson (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) scored his first career goal in just his second career game. Jackson enrolled at MSU this semester and became eligible to begin playing Monday when classes started.
? Freshmen (including Jackson and FR RW Kris Koski) accounted for nine of MSU?s 17 goals against UNO this year.
? MSU improves to 15-0-0 when it scores first.
? MSU snapped a two-game losing streak with the win and remained in at least a tie for first place in the CCHA with Northern Michigan and Michigan.
