NOTES: The crowd of 6,891 marked the 250th consecutive regular-season sellout at Munn Ice Arena. It also tied for the eighth-largest crowd in the arena's history. The two-game series total attendance of 13,834 is the largest series crowd in Munn history, breaking the old mark of 13,780 set Feb. 13-14, 1987, against Lake Superior.
* With the win, MSU moves past NMU into second place in the CCHA with 31 points, four points behind first-place Michigan. NMU has 30 points in league play.
* The shutout is the seventh of the season for Michigan State, establishing a new school record. The old record of six was set in 1997-98. JR G Joe Blackburn has one shutout, while FR G Ryan Miller now has six.
* FR G Ryan Miller's six shutouts tie the individual school record for shutouts in a season, originally set by Chad Alban in 1997-98. It is Miller's fifth shutout in CCHA games, tying the conference record originally set by Marc Magliarditi of Western Michigan in 1995-96.

* SO D Andrew Hutchinson, who scored on a breakaway set up after he left the penalty box, scored the 20th goal by an MSU defenseman this year. Last year, MSU defensemen combined for 13 goals all season.
* MSU has outscored opponents 23-4 in the first period of its last 17 games.
* MSU improved to 12-3-1 at Munn Ice Arena (8-6-1 away from Munn).
* FR G Ryan Miller recorded his first career assist on MSU's first goal.
