Notes:
* Michigan State posted its sixth shutout of the year, tying the single-season school record originally set by the 1997-98 team. It was the fifth shutout of the year for FR G Ryan Miller, one shy of Chad Alban's school record of six in 1997-98.
* MSU won its 10th game in a row against Lake Superior, the longest streak in series history.
* JR F Rustyn Dolyny has scored seven of his nine goals on special teams (six PPGs, one SHG).
* MSU has had at least 11 shots on goal in the first period of its last seven games. MSU has outscored its opponents 20-3 in the first period of its last 14 games.
* MSU's 21 shots on goal in the first period marked its most shots on goal in a period this year. The previous high was 20 against Ohio State Oct. 23 (second period).
* SR C Shawn Horcoff's first-period assist gave him 34 for the year, a total which leads the nation and is tied for the most by a Spartan in the last five years (with Mike York, who had 34 in 1997-98). Horcoff shares the national scoring lead with 44 points (with Wisconsin's Steve Reinprecht).
* SO F Joe Goodenow scored his first goal of the year in just his second game since returning from a hip injury suffered last summer.
