Michigan State Head Coach Ron Mason: "This is a win for Michigan State University - a tremendous night. I think everything went according to plan. The ice was good. It was cold in here. On the bench I had to put a couple more shirts on."
"The game was a hotly-contested game. Fighting from behind is not easy. Our kids kept battling. Maybe the fact that we had so many friends in our favor really helped us doen the stretch. I thought both teams put on a good show and that's what we were looking for."
Michigan Head Coach Red Berenson: "(Tonight) was really awesome. We skated this morning for the first time and obviously a lot of hard work has gone in to making this happen. The final result was a combination of the great battle between two top teams and the great support they got from the fans from start to finish.
"I thought I'd seen everything in hockey but this couldn't have turned out better. For all the people that worked on it, they did a great job."
On the players: "Once the puck dropped it was a hockey game. It was a great game in a different and unusual atmosphere."
MSU Freshman Forward Jim Slater: "I felt that it was a tremendous game. The people who puit it on were fantastic. No complaints."
On his game-tying goal: "It was a shot from the point and I just tried to find an opening. (After I scored, Adam) Hall grabbed me. He was so happy. The first college game for me - it was a great atmosphere."
MSU Senior Wing Adam Hall: "I don't think we are ever happy with a tie. I think we had our chances and they had their chances. Obviously we had some mental letdowns and communication breakdowns. It was a great start to the season."
Michigan Junior Forward Mike Cammalleri: "We talked a lot about the game. Bottom line is that it came down to the fact that there were two nets, a red line and two blue lines. It was definitely a phenomenal experience. I think everyone was happy with it. It was a class act and I appreciate everyone that worked to put it on."
