MSU Hockey Clings To Top Spot In USA Today Poll

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State hockey team held onto the top spot in this week's USA Today/American Hockey Magazine poll - barely.
The Spartans, coming off a 3-3 tie in last Saturday's game against Michigan at Spartan Stadium, grabbed 10 of 19 first-place votes and 273 total points. Minnesota, however, jumped from the third spot to second thanks to its season-opening win at then-No. 2 North Dakota. The Golden Gophers garnered seven first-place votes and 270 points. Michigan moved up one place to third in this week's rankings while Colorado College climbed from sixth to fourth. North Dakota fell three spots to fifth. Providence, Boston College, Maine, New Hampshire and Harvard round out the top 10.
Other Central Collegiate Hockey Association schools in the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine poll are Nebraska-Omaha (12th), Ohio State (15th) and Miami (receiving votes).
