Softball Falls To Boston University, 3-0

TAMPA, Fla. - The Michigan State softball team fell to Boston University, 3-0, in the consolation bracket of the Speedline Invitational on Sunday morning (March 11).
After three scoreless innings, Boston University scored two runs in the fourth inning and added an insurance run in the fifth on a homer over the left field fence by Tiffany Sinateri.
Keri DeJong (Jr., Portage, Mich.) took the loss on the mound for the Spartans. DeJong (0-3) pitched five innings, giving up three hits while striking out five.
BU's Robyn Horrick earned the victory, pitching six innings while allowing five hits and four strikeouts. Robyn King came on in the seventh to pick up the save.
Lacy Hauxhurst (So., Westminster, Calif.) and Jessica Beech (Fr., Okemos, Mich.) collected four of MSU's five hits as each player went 2-for-3 for the game.
The Spartans (4-16 overall) return to action at the San Diego University Tournament in San Diego, Calif., March 16-17.
