EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State's John-Michael Liles (Zionsville, Ind.) has been named Central Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week for Jan. 28.
The junior defenseman led the Spartans to a two-game sweep over then no.-14 Ohio State, notching a pair of assists in Friday's 3-1 win over the Buckeyes at Munn Ice Arena and adding a career-high three helpers in Saturday's series finale.
Liles currently ranks tied for second among Spartan skaters in scoring with 10-14--24 in 27 games. He leads CCHA defensemen in points, goals and power-play goals (five). He's tied for seventh among NCAA defensemen in points and is tied for fourth in the nation in goals by a defenseman.
MSU continues its string of four straight games against Ohio State this weekend as the Spartans travel to Columbus to face the Buckeyes Friday and Saturday.
