EAST LANSING, Mich. - On Thursday, March 21, Michigan State head ice hockey coach Ron Mason will drop by to take your questions in chat.
Already the winningest coach in the history of college hockey, Mason builds upon his legendary status with every victory. Mason, in his 23rd season at MSU and 36th as a college head coach, has posted 923 career wins, with unprecedented win no. 900 coming Oct. 20 against Ferris State in East Lansing.
The 2001-02 playoffs will be the last behind the bench for Mason. University president Peter McPherson tabbed the Spartan bench boss to become the school's director of athletics upon the retirement of current AD Clarence Underwood in June. Mason assumes his new role July. 1.
Mason's storied coaching career includes both an NCAA championship (with Michigan State in 1986) and an NAIA championship (with Lake Superior State in 1972) and he has led MSU to 16 CCHA regular-season or playoff titles. Mason has guided 21 teams to the NCAA Tournament, the best of any coach, and his 22 tournament victories stand second all-time. He enters this weekend's 2002 Central Collegiate Hockey Association tournament with a 634-268-69 record with MSU (923-378-83 overall).
While Mason will not be stopping by until 1 p.m. ET on Thursday, feel free to submit your questions here and we will save them for his arrival.
