Two MSU Skaters Earn CCHA All-Academic Honors

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Two Michigan State players were among the nine members of the 2002 Central Collegiate Hockey Association all-academic team, the league announced today (March 5).
Senior wing Adam Hall (Kalamazoo, Mich.), a finance major with a 3.41 grade point average, is one of five forwards on the conference all-academic squad. The Spartans' captain closed the regular season tied for the conference lead with nine power-power play goals. He shares the team lead with 17 goals and ranks third among MSU skaters with 31 points.
Junior defenseman Brad Fast (Fort St. John, B.C.), a general management major who carries a 3.47 grade point average, was the other MSU player named to the CCHA all-academic team. Fast ranks second among Spartan defensemen in scoring with 23 points and is second on the team with a +14 plus-minus rating.
Others named to the CCHA all-academic team were forwards Bobby Andrews and Jared Sylvestre of Alaska Fairbanks, Nebraska-Omaha defenseman Daniel Samuelsson, defenseman Peter Michelutti from Northern Michigan, Notre Dame forward David Inman, forward Miguel Lafleche of Ohio State and defenseman David Cousineau of Western Michigan.
Two Spartans earned CCHA all-academic honorable mention recognition. They are sophomore forward Tim Hearon (Southgate, Mich.), a finance major with a 3.77 grade point average, and junior goaltender Ryan Miller (East Lansing,Mich.), who carries a 3.19 GPA as a general management major.
Receiving all-academic special mention honors from the league are junior forward Troy Ferguson (Kitchener, Ont.), a kinesiology major with a 3.59 grade point average, and sophomore defenseman Joe Markusen (Park River, N.D.), who owns a 3.43 GPA and majors in general management.
