East Lansing, Mich.
In the second half of Big Ten games this season, Michigan State is shooting 60.4 percent (90-of-149) from the field.
Michigan State outscored Indiana 50-37 on 66.7 percent shooting from the field (14-21) in the second half.
State's 59.6 percent shooting from the field (28-of-47) marked its second-best effort of the season. MSU shot 61.4 percent at Northwestern on Jan. 21.
Paul Davis led MSU's scoring efforts with a career-best 32 tonight, eclipsing his previous career best of 24 points. Tonight marked the 15th time this season he's scored in double figures and the 13th consecutive game in which he's done so. It was also the ninth time he's led the Spartans in scoring and the sixth time this year he's recorded 20 or more points. Davis' 32 points are the most a Spartan has scored in the 2003-04 season.
Michigan State's Matt Trannon saw a season-high 11 minutes tonight against Indiana, and scored a career-best five points. His previous career high of four points came at Minnesota on Jan. 28.
Tonight was the seventh time this season MSU has had four players score in double figures, as Paul Davis (32), Chris Hill (11), Alan Anderson (10) and Kelvin Torbert (10) reached the double-digit mark. MSU is 4-2 in those games.
Michigan State moved its record to 2-8 when trailing at halftime with the win tonight, which marked the second time in the last two games State came from behind at halftime to claim a win.
Entering the night, Indiana had won five consecutive Big Ten games after opening the season with a loss at Wisconsin; the Hoosiers now own a 3-2 conference road record.
MSU is now 5-3 when the Spartans start Chris Hill, Shannon Brown, Kelvin Torbert, Alan Anderson and Paul Davis.
In the last nine games, State is averaging 75.3 points while shooting 53.6 percent from the field (236-of-440).
The 12-point Michigan State victory tonight was a marked contrast to the recent trend of games between Indiana and Michigan State, as prior to tonight three of the last nine resulted in overtime, while three were decided by seven points or less.
Though he scored just 11 points tonight against the Hoosiers, Chris Hill, who leads the Big Ten in field goal percentage, is shooting .553 (47-of-85) from the field in the last eight games.
The Spartans have won 11 straight home games against Indiana, while head coach Tom Izzo is 10-6 all-time against Indiana, including an 8-0 record in East Lansing.
At 199-86 as Michigan State's head coach, Tom Izzo is just one win away from recording his 200th career victory.
This year, MSU is 8-1 in the Breslin Center. Since the start of the 1998-99 season, Michigan State has won 81 of its last 86 regular-season games at home, a winning percentage of .942, and is 41-2 (.954) in Big Ten play in that same span. In addition, tonight marked the 92nd consecutive sell out.
