EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State men's swimming and diving (0-1) opens its home schedule Saturday, Oct. 30, with a Big Ten dual meet against Iowa at noon at the Charles McCaffree Pool, located in the IM West Building.
"The first home meet for our team is going to be a tough one. Iowa really beat us pretty badly last year and they have a talented group of swimmers," said MSU head coach Matt Gianiodis.
The Spartans lost at Kentucky, 151-86, on Oct. 23 to open the season. Junior Ian Clutten finished first in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.71) and third in the 200 IM (1:55.41). Junior David Habel won the 500 free (4:46.35) and placed third in the 1000 free (9:46.01). Sophomore Jason Vadney, junior Matt Wisniewski, freshman Adam Schmitt and senior Patrick Saucedo won the 400 freestyle relay for MSU (3:08.77).
Iowa comes to East Lansing this weekend with a record of 0-1 (0-1 Big Ten). The Hawkeyes lost to Wisconsin, 209-138, in the Big Ten dual-meet opener for both teams in Iowa City on Oct. 23.
