Michigan State Basketball Post-Game Quotes
Michigan State vs. UW-Green Bay
Nov. 23, 2004 - East Lansing, Mich. - Breslin Center
Final Score: Michigan State 104, UW-Green Bay 46
Michigan State Head Coach Tom Izzo
"This is not the same UW-Green Bay team that I saw on tape. They are playing without their two best players and I think that really showed. We wore them out in the second half. It is hard to be thrilled, knowing they weren't the same team, but it is encouraging that we improved on the three objectives we wanted to work on. We did better with our rebounding, controlling our turnovers, and improved on our defensive play. I think we got a little selfish, but that is going to happen."
"Kelvin Torbert continues to play well, and we got more out of Paul (Davis) tonight, which is encouraging. Chris (Hill) and Maurice (Ager) came up with some big shots. All in all, we did a better job getting to the free throw line and accomplishing some of our goals in the second half."
"I would like to keep the tempo where it was tonight, but we might not be able to do that when we run into some tougher teams. But, I think we have grown as a team in that area. We are running the floor very well, but most importantly, we are doing it with efficiency. We are making progress, but we have to realize that we are going to have to keep it up against some higher caliber teams."
"I am definitely not satisfied with the rebounding, because it is illegal to be satisfied (around here), but I thought we did better. But, we have to do a better job of making sure our wings rebound first and run the floor second, which is something the championship teams were dynamite at."
UW-Green Bay Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk
"I am certainly not very happy or proud about how our team performed tonight. I think a lot of that has to do with how good Michigan State is. They have to be one of the best transition teams I have ever had the chance to see in my coaching career. Spartan athletes do a tremendous job of pushing the basketball. When we were down to seven healthy players, it was hard to keep up. Michigan State is a program that we look up to. It is a program that we try to copy in a lot of what we do. I'll say this, they gave it to us tonight."
