EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State wrestling coach Tom Minkel signed Freddie DeRamus to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Spartans in the 2004-05 season. He joins John Cross, Nick Fallico, John Murphy, Eddie Skowneski, Matt Steintrager and Jeff Wimberley, who signed with the Spartans last November.
"Freddie adds to the excellent group of recruits we signed in the early signing period," said Minkel. "We're looking forward to having them all join the Spartan wrestling program."
A heavyweight, the 260-pound DeRamus completed his senior season with a 41-1 record, and took third in the Illinois AA State Tournament. A 2004 graduate of St. Rita High School in Chicago, DeRamus was the president of St. Rita's Student Council his senior year and served as the junior class president.
