Matt Harmon Advances To Semifinals Of Michigan Amateur

GROSSE ILE, Mich. - Michigan State sophomore golfer Matt Harmon (Grand Rapids, Mich.) has advanced to the semifinals of the 93rd Michigan Amateur Championship as he won both of his matches on Friday, June 25 at the Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club.

In Friday's morning session, Harmon beat New Boston's Ryan Johnson, 1-up to advance to the final eight. In Friday's afternoon session, Harmon also posted a 1-up decision to Flushing's Dale Black to move into the semifinals.

Harmon will face 2002 Michigan Amateur Champion and East Lansing native Korey Mahoney in one semifinal bracket on Saturday, June 26, at 8 a.m. The other semifinal features Casey Baker and Jeff Cuzzort, beginning at 8:15 a.m. The winners of the two semifinals meet for the 93rd Michigan Amateur Championship on Saturday afternoon.
